The Sager Emergency Traction Splint uses unipolar traction. A steel rod is placed between the patient's legs and provides traction from the ankle while applying counter pressure on the ischial tuberosity. This positioning makes the Sager splint more effective for proximal femur fractures compared to the hare splint.
