The Philips SMART Pads HeartStart HS1 Infant and Child Cartridge is specifically designed to provide safe and effective defibrillation for paediatric patients. Intended for children aged 1 to 8 years or weighing less than 25 kg, these pads enable the Philips HeartStart HS1 AED to automatically adapt its therapy to suit younger patients, ensuring appropriate shock energy and CPR guidance.

Once the cartridge is inserted into the HeartStart HS1 defibrillator, the device instantly recognises the paediatric pads and switches to child mode. Shock energy is reduced to 50 joules, and CPR coaching is adjusted to reflect paediatric resuscitation guidelines. This automatic functionality removes the need for manual adjustments, reducing stress and the risk of error during an emergency.

The cartridge contains two pre-connected, self-adhesive pads housed in a sealed, transparent casing. Clear illustrations on the pads guide correct placement, making them suitable for both trained responders and lay users. Designed for reliability and rapid deployment, these pads are ideal for environments where children may be present, including schools, nurseries, sports facilities, clinics, and community AED locations.
