Sager Emergency Traction Splint
The traction splint Sager Emergency Traction Splint is a clinically proven unipolar traction device designed for the emergency management of suspected femoral shaft fractures. This traction splint applies quantifiable and dynamic traction to mid-shaft and proximal third femur fractures, helping to align the bone, reduce pain and muscle spasm, and minimise internal bleeding during pre-hospital and hospital transport.
Manufactured from stainless steel with an articulating base, the Sager traction splint is engineered to deliver controlled traction using an integrated force gauge. This allows clinicians to apply precise traction while avoiding over-traction, improving patient safety. The padded ischial perineal cushion provides stable counter-traction and enhanced patient comfort.
Unlike bipolar traction devices, this traction splint fits within the patient’s natural body silhouette, making it ideal for confined transport environments such as ambulances, helicopters, and emergency departments. Its dynamic traction system automatically adjusts as muscle tension changes, maintaining consistent therapeutic force without repeated manual adjustment.
The Sager Emergency Traction Splint is universally sized for both adults and children, simplifying equipment standardisation for emergency medical services. It is intended strictly for isolated femoral fractures and should not be used for pelvic, hip, knee, or ankle injuries.

Shipping and returns
Ordered before 1pm Monday to Friday, dispatched the same working day from Leeds. Deliveries run Monday to Saturday, never Sunday.
UK mainland, light items: 1 to 2 working days. Heavy and bulky: 2 to 4 working days.
Customs and duties
International orders ship on a Delivered At Place basis. Import duty, local tax and customs clearance fees are charged by the destination country and are the buyer's responsibility.
