Labcold IntelliCold Benchtop Pharmacy Fridge, 36 Litres, Pre-Owned
This Labcold IntelliCold benchtop pharmacy fridge holds vaccines and temperature sensitive medicines inside a controlled 2 to 8 degrees C range, with a factory set point of 5 degrees C. It suits GP surgeries, community pharmacies, clinics and vaccination centres that have to hold cold chain stock and produce a temperature record for it.
The IntelliCold touch screen controller monitors two probes, one of them a 1 m wandering probe that can be placed anywhere in the cabinet, and logs temperatures automatically around the clock for transfer to a computer. The unit is supplied pre-owned and has been checked in the Elarix workshop before dispatch.

Checked before dispatch
- Powered on and run down to the set point, then held to confirm the cabinet reaches and maintains temperature.
- Touch screen controller, minimum and maximum display and probe readings checked.
- High and low temperature, door open and power failure alarms triggered and observed.
- Door seal, self-closing action, lock and internal light checked.
- Interior and exterior cleaned, and the unit inspected for damage.
These are in-house workshop checks. Damaged or non-working items are not dispatched. A full engineer service and calibration is not included, and this item may require service and calibration. Planned maintenance, periodic electrical safety testing and ongoing maintenance under PUWER 1998 remain with the operating organisation.
Verify performance before any stock is loaded
- Run the cabinet empty in its final position until the temperature is stable, then check the displayed reading against an independent calibrated thermometer before medicines are placed inside.
- Accuracy of the readings used for cold chain records rests with the operating organisation, since no calibration certificate is supplied with this unit.
- Stock is not loaded on a unit that has just been moved or tilted, and the alarms are confirmed working first.
Why a pharmacy fridge rather than a domestic one
A domestic fridge is built to keep food cold on average. It cycles well below 2 degrees C at the back of the cabinet and swings above 8 degrees C after the door is opened, and it gives no record of either. Vaccines lose potency at both ends of that swing, and a frozen vaccine is a discarded vaccine. A pharmacy fridge is built the other way round: fan assisted circulation to hold the whole interior inside a narrow band, a controller that watches the actual air the stock sits in, and a log that proves what happened overnight and at the weekend. When a batch is questioned months later, the log is the evidence.
The two probe arrangement is the part that matters most in daily use. One probe reports the cabinet, and the wandering probe is placed where the stock actually sits, in the busiest shelf or inside a glycol bottle, so the record reflects the medicine rather than the airflow. Minimum and maximum values are held and displayed, which is what a daily temperature check needs, and the alarms cover the three failures that spoil stock unnoticed: the temperature drifting, the door left ajar, and the power going off while the building is empty. Battery back-up keeps the controller and its alarms alive through a power cut, and the remote alarm contacts allow the unit to be tied into a building alarm system for out of hours cover.
Two trade-offs are worth stating. At 36 litres this is a small cabinet, sized for a treatment room or a single clinic session rather than a whole practice stock holding, and a solid door means checking stock requires opening it, which is better for light sensitive medicines but adds a warm air intrusion each time. And because the unit is pre-owned, it arrives without a calibration certificate, so the receiving organisation carries out its own verification against a calibrated reference before the readings are relied on for cold chain records. This is the wrong cabinet for frozen vaccine storage, for blood bank use, which is separately specified, and for laboratory samples that need a different range or a validated mapping report.

Battery back-up for controller and alarms, keeping monitoring and alerting live through a mains interruption rather than resuming blind when power returns.
Fan assisted cooling, moving air through the cabinet to even out temperature between the top and bottom shelves, which is what prevents a cold spot freezing vaccines at the back.
Off-cycle automatic defrost, clearing frost during the compressor's natural off periods, so there is no manual defrost and no interruption to storage.
Solid self-closing lockable door, shutting itself if it is released rather than left resting open, and locking to control access to stored medicines.
Screen lock after 30 seconds, taking the controller out of the reach of an accidental touch, so settings are not changed by a passing sleeve.
Remote alarm contacts, allowing the fridge to be wired into a building alarm or an out of hours monitoring system so a night-time failure reaches somebody.
Benchtop or wall mounted installation, with brackets supplied, so a small clinical room can give the cabinet wall space instead of worktop space.

Ongoing maintenance sits under PUWER 1998, together with periodic electrical safety testing, and remains the responsibility of the organisation operating the equipment.
Delivery, lifting and wall mounting
- The cabinet weighs 30 kg. Two people are needed to receive it, lift it onto a bench and position it.
- Wall mounting is carried out by a competent person, onto a wall able to carry the loaded weight of the cabinet, using fixings selected for the wall construction. Fixings are not supplied.
- Leave the clearance around the cabinet that the manufacturer instructions require so the condenser can shed heat, and allow the unit to stand upright before it is switched on after transport.

SelfiMed offers a 30-day change-of-mind return policy on eligible items. To request a return, please contact us within 30 days of delivery. Items returned under this policy must be in the same condition as received and suitable for resale.
Please note that brand new items must remain unopened, unused and in their original packaging to be eligible for return. Once a new item has been opened or used, it may no longer qualify for return as new, and any accepted return may be subject to restocking fees.
For hygiene reasons, opened CPAP masks, CPAP parts and CPAP accessories, including tubing, filters and humidifier chambers, cannot be returned.
Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.

Refund
Refunds are issued to the original payment method once the returned item reaches us and has been checked, normally within five working days.
Faulty items are refunded in full, including the delivery you paid.
