The ResMed S10 HumidAir Standard Tub is the water chamber designed for use with the AirSense 10 and AirCurve 10 series of devices. Choosing the right tub and understanding its role in your therapy setup prevents common problems such as rainout, inadequate humidification and premature component failure. This article covers what the tub does, how to select the correct version, what to expect in use and how to maintain it correctly.
The water chamber sits inside the integrated HumidAir humidifier unit attached to an AirSense 10 or AirCurve 10 device. During therapy, the device heats the water in the tub to add moisture to the delivered air. This reduces dryness in the airway throughout the night, which is a common reason patients discontinue therapy.
The tub is a consumable component. ResMed recommends replacing it every six months under normal use conditions, or sooner if cracking, discolouration or mineral deposits are visible.
The Standard Tub is compatible with both standard unheated tubing and ResMed's ClimateLineAir heated tubing. When used with ClimateLineAir, the device adjusts humidifier output automatically based on ambient conditions, which reduces the likelihood of rainout. When used with standard tubing, the user sets the humidification level manually on the device.
The tub itself does not change between these configurations. The tubing used alongside it determines which control mode is available.

The ResMed S10 HumidAir Standard Tub is designed specifically for the S10 platform, which covers AirSense 10, AirSense 10 AutoSet, AirSense 10 Elite, AirSense 10 for Her, AirCurve 10 CS Pacewave, AirCurve 10 S, AirCurve 10 ST and AirCurve 10 VAuto. It is not compatible with earlier or later ResMed device generations. If you are unsure which platform your device uses, check the label on the underside of the unit before ordering.
The tub is a water-contact consumable. New tubs are recommended for patient-facing use. Pre-owned tubs may be appropriate for service engineers assessing compatibility or for training purposes, but should not be used for nightly therapy without first verifying that the item has been cleaned and inspected to an appropriate protocol. Ask before ordering if condition is not stated clearly in the listing.
Fill the tub to the maximum fill line marked on the chamber. Do not overfill. Use distilled or demineralised water where possible. Tap water accelerates mineral deposit formation, which shortens the useful life of the tub and can affect performance over time. Insert the tub into the humidifier unit with the device powered off, and confirm the tub is fully seated before starting a session.
Rainout, the condensation of water in the tubing, is more common when the room is cold and the humidifier setting is high. If rainout is occurring throughout the night, reduce the humidifier level by one step and reassess over several nights. Switching to ClimateLineAir heated tubing, used with the same standard tub, removes most rainout in most environments because the tube maintains air temperature between the device and the mask interface.
Empty and rinse the tub daily with warm water. Allow it to air dry away from direct sunlight before refilling. Once per week, wash the tub in warm water with a mild liquid detergent, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry completely. Do not use bleach, alcohol-based solutions or abrasive materials, as these degrade the polycarbonate and compromise the seal between the tub and the humidifier unit. Follow the manufacturer instructions where they differ from this general guidance: the manufacturer instructions take precedence.
Mineral deposits that do not clear after a standard wash cycle indicate the tub is approaching the end of its useful life. Do not attempt to descale using vinegar or chemical descalers unless the manufacturer instructions explicitly permit it. If in doubt, replace the tub. The cost of a replacement tub is modest relative to the disruption caused by a leaking or compromised chamber.
The ResMed S10 HumidAir Standard Tub is a widely stocked consumable. It is available from registered CPAP suppliers and medical equipment distributors. Confirm the part number matches the S10 platform before purchase. The tub is sold separately from the humidifier unit and the device. Availability in a bundle with other consumables such as filters or tubing varies by supplier.
The ResMed S10 HumidAir Standard Tub is a straightforward consumable with a defined replacement interval and clear compatibility boundaries. Selecting the correct tub means confirming the S10 platform, choosing new stock for patient-facing nightly use and inspecting for cracks, discolouration and lid seal integrity before fitting. Correct filling, regular cleaning and timely replacement at six months or sooner keep the humidifier performing as intended. For any questions about compatibility or condition not answered by the listing, ask before ordering.
