Edan iM3 Vital Signs Patient Monitor, Pre-Owned
The Edan iM3 is an ultra-slim vital signs monitor built around an 8 inch capacitive touchscreen. It measures SpO2, non-invasive blood pressure, pulse rate and temperature, and switches between three working modes: continuous monitoring at the bedside, spot check for rapid observations, and a rounds mode that carries a patient list through a ward round and records against each name.
This unit is pre-owned and comes with its SpO2 finger sensor, extension lead, adult NIBP cuff and tube. A rolling stand is available with it but is not included in the shipped price, and the arrangements for that are set out below.

The stand, collection and carriage
- The rolling stand is not covered by the shipping price shown for the monitor, because of its size and weight.
- It can be collected in person at no additional charge, by arrangement.
- Where collection is not practical, the buyer arranges their own carrier for the stand and Elarix makes it ready for that collection.
- The monitor itself ships normally, with or without the stand.
Verify performance before clinical use
- This is a measuring device. Non-invasive blood pressure, SpO2 and temperature accuracy are verified against a suitable simulator or reference before the monitor is used on patients.
- Electrical safety testing is carried out on receipt, as for any pre-owned mains powered medical device.
- Alarm limits, patient category and any early warning score configuration are set by the receiving organisation to its own protocols and never left as they were found.
- No calibration certificate is supplied with this unit.
Why the three work modes matter
Most vital signs monitors are built for one job, and the mismatch shows up as soon as the workflow changes. A continuous bedside monitor asked to do a set of ward observations produces a stream of data nobody wanted and no record against a patient name. A spot check device asked to watch a deteriorating patient has no trending and no alarms worth the name. The iM3 carries three configurations in one unit: monitoring mode with real-time display, alarms and trend, spot check mode for a single set of observations, and rounds mode, which is the one that changes the working day.
In rounds mode the patient list is loaded onto the monitor, from a USB drive or from the record system, and the trolley goes round the bay taking observations against each name in turn, with colour coding showing who has been done and who has not. The measurements come back off the monitor as a report rather than being copied onto paper and typed in later, which removes the transcription step where most observation errors are introduced. For a ward doing four rounds a day that is the difference between the monitor being a device and being part of the documentation process.
Two things are worth checking before buying. Configuration varies considerably on this platform: SpO2 can be the Edan module or Nellcor, blood pressure can be Edan or SunTech, temperature can be an oral module, infrared ear, non-contact or temporal, and Wi-Fi and the barcode scanner are options rather than standard. A pre-owned unit is whatever it was ordered as, so the modules on the individual monitor decide what accessories fit it. And this is a vital signs monitor rather than a full multiparameter monitor: there is no ECG trace, no invasive pressure and no capnography, so anyone needing those is looking at a different class of device.

Substantial on-board storage, holding trend data, alarm events and a large body of spot check records, with data retained through a power-off so a session is not lost.
Battery operation, with a lithium-ion pack running away from mains power for the length of a round, and auto standby to preserve charge between measurements.
USB transfer and record system compatibility, so observations reach the patient record without a transcription step.

- Screen tilt angle and the presence of a carbon dioxide option, both stated in an earlier description of this product, are not supported by the manufacturer documentation and have been left out rather than repeated.

Pre-owned, previously in clinical service, with cosmetic marks consistent with that use. Photographs form part of the description and show the actual unit offered.
Checked before dispatch, with the monitor powered on, the touchscreen and work modes navigated, the NIBP pump and SpO2 channel exercised, and the case, sockets and battery compartment inspected. Damaged or non-working items are not dispatched.
No service history or calibration certificate is supplied, and this item may require service and calibration. Ongoing maintenance sits under PUWER 1998 with the organisation operating the equipment, alongside periodic electrical safety testing.

Shipping and returns
Ordered before 1pm Monday to Friday, dispatched the same working day from Leeds. Deliveries run Monday to Saturday, never Sunday.
UK mainland, light items: 1 to 2 working days. Heavy and bulky: 2 to 4 working days.
Customs and duties
International orders ship on a Delivered At Place basis. Import duty, local tax and customs clearance fees are charged by the destination country and are the buyer's responsibility.

Opened items that touch the airway cannot be returned for hygiene reasons unless they are faulty.

Refund
