Physio-Control LIFEPAK CR Plus Defibrillator with Carry Case, Pre-Owned

The LIFEPAK CR Plus is a public access automated external defibrillator designed around two-step operation. Releasing the lid switches the device on, and spoken prompts take the rescuer through pad placement, rhythm analysis and CPR from there. It was for many years one of the most widely deployed AEDs in UK workplaces, schools and public buildings, and it remains one of the simplest for an untrained rescuer to use under pressure.

It uses the ADAPTIV biphasic truncated exponential waveform, which compensates voltage and duration for the patient's impedance so the energy delivered suits the person rather than a fixed setting. The Shock Advisory System analyses the rhythm and charges only when a shock is advised, and the escalating energy sequence defaults to 200, 300 and 360 joules, stepping up only after a lower energy shock has not worked.

The device runs an automatic weekly self-test and a deeper monthly diagnostic, showing readiness on an indicator so an unattended unit can be checked at a glance. It is splash resistant to IPX4 with electrodes connected and the CHARGE-PAK installed, weighs roughly 2 kg, and is supplied here with its soft carry case.

This unit is pre-owned. The consumables fitted to it are used, and the notice below sets out what has to happen before it is used on a person.

Item Detail
Manufacturer Physio-Control, now part of Stryker
Model LIFEPAK CR Plus
Consumable kit CHARGE-PAK battery charger paired with QUIK-PAK electrodes, supplied as one dated kit
Configurations Semi-automatic and fully automatic versions exist. The configuration of this unit is confirmed before dispatch

Features

  • Two-step operation, powering on the moment the lid is released, which removes the decision most untrained rescuers hesitate over and starts the voice prompts within seconds.
  • ClearVoice spoken prompts, adjusting to the noise around the rescuer and guiding pad placement, analysis and CPR timing step by step.
  • ADAPTIV biphasic truncated exponential waveform, compensating voltage and duration for patient impedance so the delivered energy matches the person.
  • Escalating energy sequence, defaulting to 200, 300 and 360 joules and stepping up only after a lower energy shock has not worked.
  • Shock Advisory System, charging only when a shock is advised, with motion detection active during analysis.
  • Automatic self-testing, weekly and monthly, with readiness and service indicators, which is what makes an unattended AED trustworthy between checks.
  • Splash resistant to IPX4, with electrodes connected and the CHARGE-PAK installed.
  • Roughly 2 kg with a moulded handle and soft case, so it can be carried one-handed across a site at a run.
  • Internal memory, holding patient data from the event for later download.

Important notice

The consumables fitted to this unit are used, and must be renewed before it is used on a person. The battery and pads on this platform are a matched pair, the CHARGE-PAK charger and QUIK-PAK electrodes, supplied as a single kit with one shared expiry date, and the internal battery is trickle charged by the CHARGE-PAK rather than swapped directly. This unit may arrive with a kit that is expired, depleted or both. A fresh in-date CHARGE-PAK and QUIK-PAK kit is fitted, and the device allowed to complete its self-test and show a ready indication, before the AED is relied upon in any clinical or emergency setting. Any used pads supplied with it are not placed on a person.

Check consumable availability before you buy. No other battery or pad set fits this device, so its readiness depends entirely on obtaining a genuine CHARGE-PAK and QUIK-PAK kit. Stryker ended supply of both in February 2026, and remaining kits are whatever is left in distribution. Confirm you can source an in-date kit, and at what price, before purchasing this unit for emergency cover, since the device cannot be made ready without one. Where a defibrillator is needed for continuing emergency cover over several years, a current model with ongoing consumable supply is the sounder choice.

Condition, testing and responsibilities. Shock delivery has not been verified against a defibrillator analyser and no service, calibration or output test is included. The readiness indicator observed before dispatch reflects the device's own self-test, not an independent measurement. No service history accompanies the unit. Electrical and functional verification on receipt, together with ongoing readiness checks, battery and pad expiry monitoring and any statutory duties under PUWER 1998, rest with the organisation operating the device. Defibrillation is delivered following current resuscitation guidance and local policy.
