Cosmoderm D3M Electric Therapy Chair in White with Controller, Pre-Owned

The Cosmoderm D3M is an electrically operated therapy chair supplied with its controller. Chairs of this type sit at the centre of a dermatology, aesthetics, podiatry or minor procedures room, and their value is in adjustability rather than in any single feature. A patient is received seated, brought to a working height that protects the clinician's back through a full list, and reclined for the procedure without transferring anywhere. That single arrangement replaces a chair, a couch and the manual handling between them. This unit is finished in white vinyl with channel stitching, and has a three section deck, an adjustable headrest on a post and a pair of wide flat armrests. It is pre-owned and powers up.

Checked before dispatch

  • Cleaned and inspected.
  • Powered up and function tested through the powered movements available on the chair.
  • Controller checked for response on each function.
  • Upholstery, frame, base, mains lead and plug visually inspected for damage.

These are in-house workshop checks. Damaged or non-working items are not dispatched. A full engineer service is not included unless this listing states that the unit has been serviced. Planned maintenance and periodic electrical safety testing remain with the operating organisation once the chair is in service.

Specification limited to what is confirmed

Cosmoderm does not publish specifications for this model at a source that can be verified, so no dimensions, height range, weight capacity, motor count, section angles, base type or electrical ratings are stated here, and none should be assumed from the description above. The chair is offered on the basis of its condition and the photographs, which form part of the description. Where a particular figure is needed before purchase, ask and the rating label will be photographed and the chair measured. A safe working load in particular should be confirmed rather than assumed before the chair is used with a heavier patient.

What a powered therapy chair is used for

The argument for a powered chair over a fixed couch is the same in every setting, and it is about the clinician as much as the patient.

Working height. A fixed couch forces a clinician to work at whatever height it happens to be, which over a full list means stooping, leaning and reaching. A powered chair is brought to the height of the person doing the procedure, which is the single most effective control against the cumulative back and shoulder problems that end careers in hands-on specialties.

Patient access. A chair that lowers to a seated position lets a patient walk on and sit down rather than climb onto a couch, which matters for older, frailer and less mobile patients, and removes a manual handling task for staff.

Position without transfer. Moving from upright to reclined under power means the patient stays where they are while the position changes around them, rather than being repositioned by hand for each stage of a procedure.

Room efficiency. One chair covers consultation, procedure and recovery, which is worth more in a small treatment room than any individual feature.

What the photographs show

Three section deck, comprising backrest, seat and leg section, allowing the chair to move between an upright seated position and a reclined one.
Adjustable headrest mounted on a post, so head position is set to the patient and the procedure rather than fixed.
Two wide flat armrests, giving forearm support during treatment and something for the patient to push against when getting up.
White vinyl upholstery with channel stitching, wipe clean and unobtrusive in a clinical room.
Chrome adjusters at the foot end, visible on both sides of the leg section.
Mains powered, with the supply lead visible in the photographs.

Suited to

  • Dermatology and aesthetic clinics
  • Podiatry and chiropody practices
  • Minor procedures and treatment rooms
  • Tattoo removal and laser treatment rooms
  • Private clinics fitting out a second room at lower cost
Condition and history. A pre-owned unit from clinical service, cleaned and inspected, confirmed to power up. Cosmetic marking consistent with previous use should be expected, and upholstery condition should be assessed from the photographs. Ongoing maintenance should follow the operating organisation's planned maintenance schedule and the duties under PUWER 1998. The photographs form part of the description and show the actual condition of the item offered.

Delivery and access

  • This is a large, heavy item. Measure every access point on the route before ordering, including external doors, internal doorways, corridor turns, stair widths and lift dimensions.
  • Dimensions are not published for this model, so measure the chair against the route rather than working from a specification. Ask if measurements are needed before ordering.
  • Delivery is to ground floor only and the chair is supplied assembled. It cannot be carried upstairs or dismantled for delivery.
  • Two people should be available to receive the item, with a clear path from the delivery vehicle to the room.
  • Return shipping is at the buyer's expense and any delivery fee paid is non-refundable.

Routine care guidance

Component Action Interval
Upholstery Wipe down per local policy, inspect for splits, seam failure and staining Between patients
Powered functions Cycle every powered movement through its full travel and listen for actuator strain Weekly
Controller and lead Inspect for cracked housings, damaged cable and fluid ingress Weekly
Base and feet Check stability, and that any castors or levelling feet are secure Monthly
Frame and fixings Inspect for loose fasteners, corrosion and deformation Monthly
Planned maintenance and electrical safety test Engineer service and test Per local schedule

The above is general guidance. The manufacturer instructions for use and the operating organisation's decontamination and maintenance policy take precedence. Any chair showing a fault should be taken out of service until it has been repaired and re-tested.
