Alvera AirStrap magnetic headgear clips connect the lower headgear straps to the mask frame and let the mask come off in one movement. Anyone who has fumbled with a plastic clip in the dark to get out of bed understands the appeal: the magnet finds its own seat, so the mask reattaches without adjusting the headgear and without the tension the wearer spent weeks getting right. Clips are also the part of a mask assembly that fails first. They are small, they are handled twice a night, they get lost in bedding and they crack at the strap slot long before the cushion or the frame reaches the end of its life. Supplied as 4 pieces, which is two pairs. That covers two masks, or one mask with a spare pair kept aside, so a cracked clip is changed the same night rather than tolerated until the next order arrives.

Magnet safety, read before use
These clips contain magnets. Keep them, and any mask fitted with them, at least 50 mm away from any implanted or body-worn medical device or metallic implant that could be affected by a magnetic field. This includes pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators, neurostimulators, cerebrospinal fluid shunts with an adjustable valve, aneurysm clips, metallic stents, cochlear implants, insulin pumps, metallic splinters in the eye and any ferromagnetic implant.
This applies to the wearer, to anyone sharing the bed, and to anyone handling the mask, including a carer. Magnetic clips must not be used where the wearer or a bed partner has any of the above, and the responsible clinician should be asked where there is any doubt. Consult the magnet safety information supplied with the mask before fitting magnetic clips to it.
Keep the clips away from credit cards, hotel key cards, watches and other items sensitive to magnetic fields, and keep them out of reach of children, since swallowed magnets cause serious internal injury.
Check the mask before ordering
These clips are made to fit AirFit N20, AirFit F20, AirFit F30, AirTouch F20 and AirTouch N20 headgear. They do not fit mask families outside that list, including AirFit P10, N30, F30i and F40, which use different strap and frame arrangements. Some masks are supplied with magnet-free headgear by design, and where a magnet-free arrangement was chosen for a clinical reason it should not be changed without asking the responsible clinician. The mask model is printed on the frame or on the headgear itself. Where the model is not certain, ask before ordering.
Why clips wear out first
A mask assembly ages unevenly. The cushion is renewed on a schedule and the frame lasts years, but the clips take mechanical stress twice every night, every night. The strap slot widens, the plastic goes brittle where it flexes, and eventually a clip cracks or the strap starts pulling free during the night.
The failure is usually diagnosed as something else. A clip that no longer holds the strap at the set length lets the headgear slacken as the night goes on, and the wearer wakes to a leak and blames the cushion. Renewing a worn pair of clips is the cheapest fix in the whole setup and the one most often overlooked, and it avoids buying a complete mask because one small component gave up.
