Fisher and Paykel MR810AEK Humidifier

This item
The Fisher and Paykel MR810 is a heated respiratory humidifier built to warm and humidify the gas delivered to a patient through a face, nasal or oral mask. It is the humidifier at the centre of the Fisher and Paykel 810 system, used alongside noninvasive ventilation and CPAP where dry gas at flow would otherwise dry the nose and mouth, thicken secretions and drive a patient off therapy within the first few nights. MR810AEK is the 230 V model built for the United Kingdom supply.
Humidification on the MR810 is set by the operator rather than measured at the airway. Three positions set the heater plate to roughly 45, 60 and 70 degrees Celsius, and with a heated breathing circuit fitted the gas reaching the patient sits in the region of 26 to 29, 30 to 33 and 33 to 36 degrees Celsius respectively. Fisher and Paykel quote the 810 system as delivering humidity at 31 degrees Celsius and 32 mg per litre for noninvasive ventilation. With an unheated circuit the delivered figures fall, because the gas loses heat along the tube and condenses on the way, which is the practical argument for running a heated circuit on anything other than a short run in a warm room.
Control is by microprocessor servo rather than a fixed heater. The unit senses flow from the power the heater plate draws and from thermistor feedback, and adapts, so output holds when flow changes instead of needing a manual correction. A heater wire indicator lights when the unit recognises a compatible heated circuit, so an operator can see at a glance whether the circuit is being driven. Faults are signalled on a single "See Manual" indicator which flashes a code pattern, and the codes are read from the Fisher and Paykel manual.
The unit takes the MR290 single use auto-fill chamber, the MR370 reusable chamber and the MR250, and drives Fisher and Paykel heater wire circuits in the RT202 and RT308 families, with the RT307 as an unheated option. The chamber, the circuit and the water are all items a clinical buyer holds already, so this listing is for the humidifier unit itself. It is classed as Type BF applied part equipment and the manual cites IEC 60601-1, IEC and EN 60601-1-2 and ISO 8185.
