Oxford Hoist Charger
£89.99
This item
A battery charger for use with Oxford patient hoists, suitable as a spare where an original charger has been lost or damaged, or as an additional unit in settings running more than one hoist. A hoist with a flat battery is a hoist out of service, so a second charger is a small item that removes a common cause of downtime in care homes and busy domiciliary rounds.
Check compatibility before ordering
Oxford hoists have been supplied over many years with more than one battery and charging arrangement, including off-board chargers that take the battery pack out of the hoist and on-board systems that charge through a lead into the control unit. A charger that fits one model will not necessarily suit another. Check the hoist model, the existing charger part number and the connector type against the photographs before ordering. Using an unmatched charger risks damaging the battery, the hoist electronics or both, and can leave a hoist that appears charged but is not. Where there is any doubt, ask before ordering with the hoist model and serial number to hand.
Checked before dispatch
These are in-house workshop checks. Damaged or non-working items are not dispatched. A full engineer service is not included unless this listing states that the unit has been serviced. Periodic electrical safety testing remains with the operating organisation once the charger is in service.
Specification limited to what is confirmed
No part number, output rating or connector reference has been confirmed for this unit, so none is stated. The charger is offered on the basis of the photographs, which form part of the description. If the rating label is needed before purchase, ask and it will be photographed.
| Point | Detail |
|---|---|
| Charge routine | Follow the hoist manufacturer instructions. Most hoist batteries are kept on charge whenever the hoist is not in use rather than run flat between charges. |
| Location | Charge in a dry, ventilated area away from bathrooms and wet rooms, with the charger clear of walkways and trip hazards. |
| Before each lift | Check the battery indicator on the hoist. A lift should not be started on a low battery, because an emergency lower is not a substitute for a completed transfer. |
| Battery ageing | Hoist batteries lose capacity with age. A battery that no longer holds charge is a battery fault, not a charger fault, and should be renewed. |
| Inspection | Inspect the lead and plug for damage before use. Withdraw the charger from service if the housing is cracked or the lead is damaged. |
| Hoist examination | The hoist itself is lifting equipment for lifting persons and requires thorough examination by a competent person at least every six months under LOLER 1998. |
