ResMed AirCurve 11 VAuto Bi-Level Bipap With HumidAir- Complete Bundle
£1,569.99
This item
Resmed AirFit F40 Full Face CPAP Mask
£99.99
The ResMed AirCurve 11 VAuto is a bi-level positive airway pressure device that delivers a higher pressure on inspiration and a lower pressure on expiration, so the wearer breathes out against less pressure than the level holding the airway open. The VAuto algorithm adjusts those pressures through the night inside the range set by the prescribing clinician rather than holding a single fixed value.
The device is supplied with the HumidAir humidifier fitted, a colour touchscreen for navigation, SlimLine air tubing, a standard filter, water chamber, mains power supply, SD card and a carry case.

Therapy pressures are set by the prescribing clinical service
Fixed pressure CPAP holds one pressure across the whole breathing cycle, which means the wearer exhales against the same pressure that is holding the airway open. Where the prescribed pressure is high, or where breathing out already takes effort, that resistance is a common reason therapy is abandoned in the first weeks. A bi-level device separates the two levels: a higher inspiratory pressure supports the breath in, and a lower expiratory pressure lets the breath out. The gap between them, the pressure support, is what changes both the comfort of the breath and the volume moved on each cycle.
The VAuto part of the name describes how those levels behave overnight. Instead of sitting at two fixed values, the device raises and lowers the expiratory pressure in response to airway resistance and carries the inspiratory pressure with it, so the pressure support stays constant while the underlying pressure tracks what the airway needs at that moment. Sleeping position, sleep stage and nasal congestion all move that requirement through the night, and a single fixed setting has to be high enough to cover the worst part of it.
Two limitations are worth knowing before purchase. The tubing supplied is unheated, so in a cold bedroom with humidification set high, condensation can collect in the tube; heated tubing and Climate Control address this and are bought separately. The device also runs from mains power with no internal battery, so it travels in its case but does not run unplugged. It is the wrong choice in two situations: where the prescription is straightforward fixed or auto-adjusting CPAP, in which case a bi-level adds cost and set-up complexity for no clinical gain, and where a person depends on ventilation to sustain breathing, since this device assists spontaneous breathing rather than replacing it.
