Safety Chair EV-8000 Electric Power-Climb Evacuation Chair with Battery & NEW Charger
Safety Chair EV-8000 Electric Power-Climb Evacuation Chair, Pre-Owned, with Battery and New UK Charger
The EV-8000 is a powered evacuation chair for moving a person up or down a stairwell when lifts are unavailable. Powered travel in both directions is what separates it from a conventional evacuation chair: a descent-only chair gets a person out, but cannot bring a firefighter's casualty up, cannot reposition someone to a refuge on a higher floor, and cannot return the chair to its mounting without carrying it. Motorised Power-Climb tracks take the load off the operator, so a single trained person can manage a descent that would otherwise need two or three. Weight capacity is 220 kg, chair weight 33 kg, and it folds to 116 x 57 x 32 cm for wall mounting. Supplied with its battery and a new UK charger.

Before the chair goes on the wall
- Battery. The battery supplied is pre-owned. Capacity in any lithium-ion cell falls with age and cycle count, so the runtime available cannot be stated for this unit. Charge it fully, test the chair on a representative flight, and fit a fresh battery if it does not hold charge. A chair mounted on a wall for months between uses is only as good as its battery on the day.
- Training. Powered evacuation chairs must only be used by operators trained on the specific model. Training is not included and should be arranged before the chair is entered in an evacuation plan.
- Fire strategy. The chair supports a building's evacuation arrangements but does not by itself discharge them. It should be recorded in the fire risk assessment and personal emergency evacuation plans, with named operators and a defined storage point.
- Routine checks. Equipment held for emergency use needs a documented check routine, since a fault is otherwise discovered during an evacuation.
Checked before dispatch
- Cleaned and inspected.
- Powered up and function tested, with track drive and controls confirmed.
- Harness, buckles and webbing checked for fraying, damage and correct latching.
- Frame, handles, tracks and locking rear wheels checked for damage and secure fixing.
- New charger supplied and charging confirmed.
These are in-house workshop checks. Damaged or non-working items are not dispatched. A full engineer service and periodic examination are not included unless this listing states that the unit has been serviced. Ongoing inspection and maintenance remain with the operating organisation once the chair is in service.
