Transit chair, attendant propelled

This is a transit model. The rear wheels are small and there are no self-propelling handrims, so the chair cannot be pushed along by the occupant and an attendant is required at all times. Where independent self-propulsion is needed, a self-propelled chair with large rear wheels and handrims is the correct choice.

Safe use

• Maximum user weight is 100 kg. This figure covers the occupant together with anything carried on the chair, including bags and equipment.
• The brakes are attendant operated parking brakes. Apply both brakes before any transfer in or out of the chair, and do not use them to control speed on a slope.
• Check that both footrests have latched into position before moving off, and swing them clear before a transfer so the occupant does not step on them.
• The lap belt is a positioning belt for use while seated. It is not a vehicle occupant restraint. The occupant should transfer to a vehicle seat for travel unless the chair carries documented evidence that it has been tested for use as a seat in a motor vehicle.
• Kerbs and steps should be negotiated using the tipping lever with the attendant facing the correct way and the occupant informed beforehand.
