Mandatory before any use with a patient

• This is lifting equipment used to lift persons. In Great Britain it requires a thorough examination by a competent person at least every six months under LOLER 1998, with a current report held before the equipment enters service.
• No sling is supplied. Slings must be matched to the individual by weight, body distribution, height and physical condition, and the safe working load printed on the sling label must be checked before every use.
• The lowest safe working load in the complete system governs. A 320 kg hoist used with a 250 kg sling is a 250 kg system, and the spreader bar rating applies in the same way.
• Slings must be inspected before every use and withdrawn from service if any fraying, damage or wear is found.
• The Tenor should be serviced and inspected only by suitably qualified personnel approved for this equipment.

Pre-owned battery, no charger supplied

The battery is pre-owned. Capacity in any sealed lead acid pack falls with age and cycle count, so the number of lifts available from a full charge cannot be stated for this unit and must be assessed once it is on charge. No charger is supplied, so a charger must be in place before the hoist can be brought into service. Where a bariatric caseload depends on the hoist being available at short notice, a fresh battery and a second pack on rotation are worth budgeting for. The battery is a sealed lead acid 24 V 4 Ah pack, part number NDA0100-20.

Weighing scale accuracy

The integrated scale is a measuring function on a pre-owned device and its accuracy has not been verified here. Before any weight from this hoist is used for a clinical decision, particularly weight-based drug dosing, the scale should be checked against a certified reference by a qualified engineer and then verified at the interval set by the operating organisation.

Delivery and access

• This is a large, heavy item at 66.4 kg with a turning radius of 1650 mm. Measure every access point on the route before ordering, including doorways, corridor turns and lift dimensions, and check the intended room can accommodate the turning circle.
• Dimensions given are approximate and should be treated as a guide for access planning rather than exact figures.
• Delivery is to ground floor only. Two people should be available to receive and move the item.
• Return shipping is at the buyer's expense and any delivery fee paid is non-refundable.
