ResMed ClimateLineAir 10 Heated Tube: Questions to Ask Before You Buy

The ResMed ClimateLineAir 10 Heated is a heated breathing tube designed for use with AirSense 10 and AirCurve 10 series devices. It delivers temperature-controlled, humidified air from the device to the mask interface throughout the night. Before ordering, most buyers have practical questions about compatibility, what is and is not included, and how the tube fits into a complete therapy setup. This article addresses those questions directly.

What the ResMed ClimateLineAir 10 Heated Actually Does

The role of heated tubing in therapy

Standard unheated tubing allows air to cool as it travels from the humidifier chamber to the mask. That cooling causes moisture to condense inside the tube, a problem commonly called rainout. Rainout produces water droplets that reach the interface, disrupting the seal and interrupting sleep.

The ClimateLineAir 10 Heated addresses this by running a heating element along the length of the tube. The heated surface keeps air temperature consistent, reducing condensation before it reaches the cushion.

How it integrates with the device

The tube connects at one end to the AirSense 10 or AirCurve 10 device via a proprietary connector. That connector carries both airflow and the electrical signal the device uses to regulate tube temperature automatically. The system is described by ResMed as Climate Control Auto mode. Manual temperature adjustment is also available through the device menu.

Without the correct connector, the heating function does not operate. A standard 22 mm tube can be fitted physically but will not carry the electrical signal and will function as unheated tubing only.

What it does not do on its own

The tube is one component in a complete therapy setup. It does not generate airflow and does not humidify air independently. A compatible water chamber, a suitable mask interface with cushion and headgear, and a functioning AirSense 10 or AirCurve 10 device are all required separately.

Compatibility: Checking Before You Order

Device compatibility

The ClimateLineAir 10 Heated is designed for use with the following ResMed device families:

  • AirSense 10 AutoSet, including the For Her variant
  • AirSense 10 Elite, fixed-pressure CPAP
  • AirSense 10 CPAP, entry-level fixed-pressure
  • AirCurve 10 series, bilevel devices including VAuto, S and CS PaceWave

It is not compatible with AirSense 11, earlier S9 devices or any non-ResMed platform. If you are uncertain which device generation you hold, check the label on the underside of the unit before ordering.

Mask compatibility

The tube connects to any standard 22 mm mask port. ResMed full-face, nasal and nasal pillow masks all use this port size. The heated tube does not alter mask fitting, cushion selection or headgear requirements. Those components remain available separately and are not included with the tube.

Water chamber requirement

The heated tube is designed to work alongside the AirSense 10 HumidAir water chamber. Humidification and heated tubing function together as a system. Operating the heated tube without a water chamber is technically possible but reduces the clinical rationale for using heated tubing in the first place. The water chamber is sold separately. Ask before ordering if you need to source both items together.

What Is and Is Not Included

What typically ships with the tube

The ClimateLineAir 10 Heated tube is a single-component item. A standard new listing includes:

  • Heated tube, one unit, 2 metre length with integrated heating element
  • Device-end connector, integrated, proprietary ResMed fitting
  • Mask-end connector, standard 22 mm cuff

Packaging contents vary depending on whether the item is supplied new in original retail packaging or as a pre-owned unit cleaned and inspected before dispatch. Photographs form part of the description where a pre-owned item is listed: check the images before ordering.

What is not included

The following items are not included and must be sourced separately:

  • AirSense 10 or AirCurve 10 device, not included
  • HumidAir water chamber, sold separately
  • Mask, cushion and headgear, sold separately
  • Air filter, sold separately, a consumable requiring periodic replacement
  • Power supply, not included, part of the device rather than the tube

Consumable replacement schedule

The tube itself is a consumable. ResMed recommends replacement every three months under nightly use. The heating element degrades over time and cannot be serviced in isolation. Actual interval depends on hours of use, cleaning frequency and local water quality.

Condition Considerations When Buying Pre-Owned

What pre-owned means for this product

A pre-owned ClimateLineAir 10 Heated tube will have accumulated hours of use. The heating element may show reduced performance compared with a new unit. A pre-owned tube should be inspected for visible cracks in the outer casing, connector integrity at both ends and any residue inside the bore. Where a pre-owned unit is listed, the condition, any visible faults and hours of use where known are stated in the listing. Damaged or non-functioning items are not dispatched.

Cleaning and inspection before dispatch

For pre-owned stock, in-house checks cover visual inspection of the outer tube and connectors, confirmation that the connector pins are undamaged and basic function testing where the tube is connected to a compatible device. These are workshop checks. They are not a full engineer service or calibration. Planned maintenance and periodic testing remain with the operating organisation.

Single-use and hygiene considerations

The ClimateLineAir 10 Heated is not classified as single-use by ResMed. It can be cleaned and reused by the same patient. Transfer between patients requires decontamination according to a validated protocol. Operating organisations are responsible for establishing that protocol before placing a pre-owned tube into clinical use.

Practical Points Before You Commit

Climate Control Auto versus manual settings

When the tube is connected correctly and Climate Control Auto is enabled on the device, the device regulates both humidifier output and tube temperature in response to ambient conditions and breathing patterns throughout the night. This reduces the need for manual adjustment at sleep onset. Manual mode allows fixed temperature settings if preferred. Both modes require a functioning heated tube connector and a paired device.

Ordering the right part number

ResMed lists the ClimateLineAir 10 Heated under part number 37336. A slimline variant also exists. Confirm the part number against your device documentation or ask before ordering if you are unsure which variant is required. Supplying the wrong tube results in a tube that either does not fit or does not operate the heating function correctly.

Questions worth asking before ordering

  • Is the item new, pre-owned or refurbished, and what checks have been carried out?
  • Is the water chamber included or sold separately?
  • Which part number is listed, and does it match my device generation?
  • For pre-owned stock, what is the approximate hours of use or age of the item?
  • Is the listing price for one tube or a bundle?

Summary

The ResMed ClimateLineAir 10 Heated is a compatible heated tube for AirSense 10 and AirCurve 10 devices. It reduces condensation in the tube by maintaining air temperature between the humidifier and the mask interface, addressing the practical problem of rainout under nightly use. It is a single component: the device, water chamber, mask and consumables are all required separately. Compatibility is specific to the AirSense 10 and AirCurve 10 range. Pre-owned units should have a stated condition, known inspection history and a clear note on any limitations before dispatch. Confirm the part number, included items and condition before ordering.
