ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet CPAP Machine, Pre-Owned, with New Alvera Accessory Set

The ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet is an auto-adjusting CPAP device for the prescribed treatment of obstructive sleep apnoea. It measures the airway breath by breath and moves the pressure within the range set by the prescribing clinician, rather than holding one fixed figure all night, and adds SmartStart, AutoRamp and Expiratory Pressure Relief to make the first weeks with a mask tolerable.

The machine is pre-owned. Everything that carries air to the wearer is new, and supplied from the Alvera range: the AquaPure S10 water chamber, the ThermaAir 10 heated tube, a ten pack of PureFlow 10 filters and a tub of PureWipe cleaning wipes, together with a CPAP cleaning machine and a new mask selected at checkout.

That combination is deliberate. On a used CPAP, blower wear is gradual and predictable, while hygiene is not. Buying a machine alone leaves the buyer sourcing a chamber, a tube, filters and a mask before the first night, and inheriting whichever of those came with it. Here the water chamber, the tube, the filter and the mask are all new, so no surface between the humidifier and the airway has been used by anyone else, and the consumables are on a fresh clock from day one.

The heated tube is the part most people add later and wish they had bought first. A standard tube loses heat across its length, the humidified air cools, and the moisture condenses inside the hose, which arrives as cold water in the mask. The ThermaAir 10 holds the air above its dew point to the mask, so humidification can be set to what the airway needs rather than turned down to stop the rainout.

Important notice

The pressure range is set by the prescribing clinical service. The minimum and maximum pressures follow a sleep study or clinical assessment and are entered by the responsible clinical service. Settings are never carried over from a previous wearer, so any range held in the device from earlier use is confirmed or changed before therapy begins. A device left on a wide default range is not the same as one set to the range the wearer was titrated for, and auto-adjustment is not a substitute for a prescription.

Mask selection. The mask supplied is new and its type is selected at checkout. Mask fit is the single most common reason CPAP therapy is abandoned, and a mask chosen from a list without a fitting is a starting point rather than a fitted interface. Anyone unsure which style or size suits them should choose with their sleep service, and should expect to try more than one cushion size before settling. Cushions are consumable and are renewed on their own schedule regardless of how the machine is used.

Condition and checks. The machine is pre-owned and was powered on and run before dispatch, with pressure delivery, blower and humidifier heating observed, the display and menus checked, and the air path and exterior inspected and cleaned. Recorded hours are read from the device before it is packed and are given on request. No engineer service or calibration is included, and no service history accompanies the unit. The accessories supplied with it are new and unused.
