The Alvera AirLink 360 Swivel is a small rotational connector designed to sit between CPAP or APAP tubing and a mask interface. Its purpose is straightforward: it allows the tube to rotate freely through 360 degrees, reducing the pull and drag that can disturb a mask seal throughout the night.
A swivel connector is a passive mechanical component. It contains two interlocking sections that rotate independently of each other while maintaining an airtight airway passage. Pressurised air from the therapy device passes through uninterrupted, regardless of the rotational position.
The Alvera AirLink 360 Swivel is sold as a discrete accessory. It is not integrated into a mask or a length of tubing. It connects in-line at the mask elbow port and accepts standard 22 mm CPAP tubing on the other end.
The swivel sits at the junction between the mask interface and the delivery tube. This is typically the point of greatest mechanical stress in a CPAP circuit, because the tubing moves with the user throughout the night. Placing a rotational connector here reduces torsional load on the mask elbow and on the cushion seal.
The AirLink 360 Swivel is not a heated connector, a pressure valve or a humidification component. It contains no electronics and performs no active function. It does not compensate for leaks, adjust pressure or monitor breathing patterns. It is a mechanical coupling only.

When tubing pulls or twists, the force transfers directly to the mask cushion. Even modest torsion can break the seal at the face, causing unintended leak. A 360-degree swivel absorbs that rotational force before it reaches the cushion, helping the interface maintain its position at sleep onset and throughout the night.
Users who change position during sleep place repeated rotational stress on a fixed elbow connector. Over time this can fatigue the elbow port on the mask frame. The swivel distributes that movement within the connector itself rather than transmitting it to the mask components.
The Alvera AirLink 360 Swivel is designed for standard 22 mm CPAP circuit connections. Before ordering, confirm that your mask elbow port and tubing diameter match this specification. Compatibility with heated tubing should also be verified, as some heated tube connectors use proprietary fittings that differ from the standard 22 mm profile. Ask before ordering if you are unsure.
Tubing, mask cushions, headgear, air filters and water chambers are all consumable or separately purchased items. None of these are supplied with the swivel. If you are assembling a complete circuit, confirm each component is compatible before ordering.
The Alvera AirLink 360 Swivel is a reusable component. It should be cleaned according to the manufacturer instructions, which take precedence over any general guidance given here. Inspect the rotating joint periodically for signs of wear, stiffness or cracking. Replace the swivel if the rotation becomes stiff or if the airtight seal between the two sections is compromised.
Disconnect the swivel from the circuit before cleaning. Wash with warm water and a mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly. Allow to air dry completely before reconnecting. Do not use alcohol-based solutions or abrasive cleaners unless the manufacturer instructions explicitly permit them, as these can degrade the plastic and compromise the rotational seal.
Check the swivel each time the tubing is replaced or at least weekly during nightly therapy use. Look for:
No connector of this type has an indefinite service life. Replace the Alvera AirLink 360 Swivel at the manufacturer's recommended interval, or sooner if any of the inspection points above are identified. A worn swivel that leaks air at the joint will reduce effective therapy pressure delivery. The manufacturer instructions are the definitive source for replacement frequency.
The Alvera AirLink 360 Swivel is a compact, passive rotational connector for standard CPAP and APAP circuits. It absorbs torsional movement at the mask elbow port, helping to maintain a consistent cushion seal throughout the night. It contains no active components and performs no monitoring or adjustment function. Tubing, masks and all other circuit components are sold separately. Compatibility with your specific mask elbow and tubing should be confirmed before ordering. Clean and inspect the swivel regularly, and replace it when wear or air loss from the joint is detected. For any clinical questions about your prescribed therapy, consult your prescribing clinician or equipment provider.
