The SystemRoMedic QuickMove Transfer & Stand Aid is a passive standing and transfer device designed to assist carers in repositioning patients or residents who retain some weight-bearing capacity. Understanding what the device does, who it suits, and what regulatory obligations come with it allows purchasers to make an informed decision before ordering.
The QuickMove provides a stable support frame that allows a partially weight-bearing individual to assist in their own transfer. The carer guides the movement rather than lifting the person manually. This reduces manual handling load on the carer and supports the resident through a controlled stand-and-pivot or stand-and-transfer sequence.
The device is appropriate for individuals who can bear some weight through their legs, follow simple instructions and cooperate with the transfer. It is not a hoist. It does not lift a non-weight-bearing person. Selecting it for an unsuitable user creates a risk of injury to the user and the carer.
The QuickMove is used across a range of clinical and residential settings.

The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) apply to stand aids used in a professional or care setting. The QuickMove must undergo a thorough examination by a competent person at least every six months. This examination must be documented. The responsibility for arranging and recording the examination rests with the operating organisation, not the supplier.
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) require that the equipment is maintained in a safe condition, that users are trained in its correct use, and that it is appropriate for the task. A risk assessment covering the specific transfer should be completed before the device is used with any individual.
The safe working load (SWL) stated by the manufacturer must not be exceeded. Where a sling or belt accessory is used in conjunction with the QuickMove, the lowest SWL across all components in the complete system governs. Check the SWL marked on the device and on any accessory before each use. Accessories are sold separately and must be confirmed compatible before ordering.
Pre-owned QuickMove units should be cleaned, inspected and function tested before dispatch. Any listing for a used unit should state the cosmetic condition, the presence of all locking mechanisms and the state of the castors or base feet. Photographs form part of the description on pre-owned items. If the listing does not include photographs or a clear condition statement, ask before ordering.
The base unit is typically supplied without consumable or user-specific accessories. The following items are commonly sold separately or not included.
SystemRoMedic produces a range of accessories intended for use with the QuickMove. Not all accessories are compatible across all variants. Confirm the specific model reference on the unit and cross-check against the current SystemRoMedic compatibility guide before purchasing accessories separately. If uncertain, ask before ordering.
Daily checks should cover the braking or locking mechanism, the integrity of the frame, the condition of any padding, and the freedom of movement of castors or feet. Any damage or unexpected movement should be taken out of service immediately and assessed by a competent person before further use.
Before any pre-owned stand aid enters a new care environment, the receiving organisation should decontaminate it according to their local infection prevention and control protocol. The supplier's dispatch inspection is an in-house workshop check. It does not replace the organisation's own decontamination and commissioning process.
The six-monthly LOLER thorough examination is a minimum interval. Some operating organisations apply a more frequent schedule based on intensity of use or local policy. The examination record must be retained and available for inspection. Planned maintenance and periodic safety checks remain entirely with the operating organisation after delivery.
The SystemRoMedic QuickMove Transfer & Stand Aid is a practical, clinically recognised tool for assisted transfers in environments where users retain some weight-bearing capacity. Selecting it correctly requires matching the device to the user's functional ability, confirming the safe working load covers the intended user, and establishing that LOLER and PUWER obligations will be met by the receiving organisation.
