The Breas Vivo 60 is a life-support ventilator for paediatric patients above 5 kg and for adults, delivering continuous or intermittent ventilatory support invasively or non-invasively. It is used in hospital, in the community and on the move, and is supplied here mounted on its rollstand.

Thirteen ventilation modes cover pressure and volume control, assisted and synchronised variants, target volume and CPAP, so a single device follows a patient across changing requirements rather than being swapped as the clinical picture moves. Exhaled volume is measured rather than assumed, which is what makes volume delivery on this class of ventilator trustworthy, and the trigger technology is tuned for synchronisation with a patient who is making respiratory effort of their own.

Paediatric capability is the part that distinguishes it from most homecare ventilators. Tidal volumes go down to 50 ml and controlled breath rates up to 60 breaths per minute, which covers small children as well as adults on the same platform.

Battery autonomy reaches 12 hours with the internal and click-on batteries together, and the unit is FAA compliant for use on commercial flights, so a ventilator-dependent patient can travel. On the rollstand it moves around a ward or a home and stands at the bedside without occupying a surface.

Important notice

Circuit, consumables and accessories. No patient circuit, filters, exhalation valve, humidifier, mask or tracheostomy interface is supplied. The circuit configuration must match the mode of ventilation and the patient, and is specified by the clinical service rather than chosen by catalogue. Single patient use items are never reissued between patients, and reusable parts are reprocessed strictly to the manufacturer's instructions before the device goes to a new patient.

Ongoing responsibilities. Once commissioned, the ventilator sits under the operating organisation's planned maintenance and equipment management arrangements, with periodic service to the manufacturer's schedule, electrical safety testing, battery condition monitoring and recorded pre-use checks. Duties under PUWER 1998 apply to equipment used at work. Where the device is placed with a patient at home, the supplying service is responsible for training, for the contingency plan and for the arrangements covering power failure and device failure.
