Stryker 6550 Power-Pro TL XPS Ambulance Stretcher with Compatible Battery & Charger & 2 Poles
Stryker 6550 Power-PRO TL XPS Ambulance Stretcher, Pre-Owned Powered Patient Transport System with Battery, Charger, Mattress and Poles
The Stryker 6550 Power-PRO TL XPS is a power assisted patient transport stretcher for pre-hospital and emergency transfer work. Battery driven hydraulics raise and lower the litter at the touch of a button, removing the manual lift that drives cumulative back injury in ambulance crews. Rated capacity is 318 kg. The XPS expandable patient surface widens the mattress platform by up to 7.6 cm on each side, which improves lateral stability during transport and accommodates a wider range of patient sizes. This unit is pre-owned and is supplied with a rechargeable battery, charger, mattress, XPS side rails and two push and pull poles.

Mandatory before any use with a patient
- This stretcher is lifting equipment used to lift persons. In Great Britain it falls under LOLER 1998 and requires a thorough examination by a competent person at least every six months, with a current report of thorough examination held before the equipment enters service.
- A qualified service engineer must inspect, function test and load test the unit before it carries a patient, including the hydraulic lift, the manual override, the wheel locks and the retractable head and foot sections.
- Operators must be trained on the specific cot and on the fastening system fitted to the vehicle before use on the road.
- The 318 kg rating applies to the stretcher in serviceable condition. Any lower limit set by the vehicle fastener, the loading system or the crew's safe system of work takes precedence.
Key features
Power-LOAD compatibility check
The Power-PRO platform is designed to interface with the Power-LOAD powered fastening system, but compatibility depends on the exact cot configuration and on the Power-LOAD variant already fitted to the vehicle. Confirm the pairing against the fleet's existing hardware and the Stryker documentation before purchase. Fitting and commissioning of any vehicle fastening system is a specialist installation and is not included.

Pre-owned battery and charger
The battery supplied is pre-owned. Usable capacity in any rechargeable pack falls with age and cycle count, so the number of lift cycles available from a full charge cannot be stated for this unit and must be assessed by the commissioning engineer. Where a service pattern depends on guaranteed runtime, a fresh battery should be fitted and a second pack held on rotation. Charge only with a charger rated for the battery supplied.
Pre-owned electrical and lifting equipment
The unit has been cleaned and inspected. An engineer electrical safety test is recommended before clinical use, alongside the function test, load test and thorough examination described above. Cosmetic marking consistent with previous service use should be expected. The photographs form part of the description and show the actual condition of the item offered.
Delivery and access
- This is a large, heavy item at approximately 59 kg and 194.3 cm in overall length. Measure every access point on the route, including doorways, corridor turns, lift dimensions and loading bay height, before ordering.
- Dimensions given are approximate and should be treated as a guide for access planning rather than an exact figure.
- Delivery is to ground floor only, kerbside or first accessible doorway. Two people should be available to receive and move the item.
- Return shipping is at the buyer's expense and any delivery fee paid is non-refundable.
Routine care guidance
| Component | Action | Interval |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | Check charge state, return to charge after every use, inspect contacts | Every shift |
| Wheel locks and castors | Check locks hold, clear debris and thread from the castor spindles | Every shift |
| Lift function | Cycle the litter through full travel and confirm the manual override operates | Weekly |
| Mattress and surfaces | Decontaminate per local policy, inspect the cover for splits and seam failure | After each patient |
| Frame and fixings | Inspect for cracks, deformation, loose fasteners and hydraulic leaks | Monthly |
| Thorough examination | Formal examination by a competent person under LOLER 1998 | At least every six months |
The above is general guidance. The manufacturer instructions for use and the operating service's own decontamination and maintenance policy take precedence. Any unit showing a fault should be taken out of service until it has been repaired and re-tested.
