ResMed AirFit F40 Full Face CPAP Mask Starter Pack with Standard Headgear, New

The AirFit F40 is ResMed's ultra compact full face mask, and it works differently from every full face mask that came before it. The cushion seals under the nose rather than over the bridge of it, while still covering the mouth, so therapy continues through a blocked nose and through mouth breathing without anything resting on the nasal bridge at all. This starter pack, reference 64610, supplies the mask with the standard headgear.

That single change addresses the two complaints that end a full face mask trial. Air tracking up into the eyes starts at the nasal bridge, because that is where a conventional full face cushion has to seal across a bony ridge that varies hugely between faces. And the red mark across the bridge of the nose each morning comes from the same contact. The F40 has no seal there, so neither problem arises. For anyone who has given up on an F20 or an F30 because of eye leak or bridge marking, this is the mask to try next rather than another size of the same thing.

The cushion is AdaptiSeal, a soft full silicone seal that conforms as the face moves and the sleeping position changes. QuietAir diffused venting is built into the cushion itself, spreading the exhaled air so it is not directed at a bed partner, with the vent ring available separately as a wear part. The frame is flexible plastic wrapped in soft nylon fabric, sits below the eyes, and has two upper and two lower adjustment points, so tension can be balanced top and bottom instead of being pulled from one strap.

A quick release elbow with a short integral tube connects to the air tubing, so therapy can be stopped and restarted without taking the mask off, and the short tube keeps hose drag off the mask when the sleeper turns over. The whole mask weighs 95.8 g. Cushions are made in small wide, medium and large, and headgear in small, standard and large; this pack carries the standard headgear, with the other two sizes available separately.

Points to note before ordering

Standard headgear only. One standard headgear is supplied. Small, reference 64633, and large, reference 64635, are separate items.
Single patient use. A full face mask is a single patient item and is not to be shared or passed on.
Service life guide. Cushions are typically changed every one to three months, headgear every three to six months and the complete mask every nine to twelve months, sooner where the seal, the vent ring, the straps or the frame show wear. The instructions for use supplied with the mask govern cleaning and service life.
