Eschmann VPX35 Suction Pump with 4 Canisters
Eschmann VPX35 Advanced Portable Suction Pump with 4 Canisters, Pre-Owned
The Eschmann VPX35 is a high power mobile suction unit delivering a vacuum flow rate above 35 litres per minute. It is built for theatre, treatment room and ward use where a portable unit has to match the performance of a piped supply.
Controls, handles, jars and the hydrophobic filter mount all sit at working height, so the unit is operated and changed over standing up rather than crouched over a trolley. Supplied here with four canisters. Eschmann is a UK manufacturer with a current consumables range, which matters on a used unit: liners, filters and tubing remain straightforward to source.

Fit a filter before use
- A hydrophobic bacterial filter must be in place at the pump inlet before the unit is used. The filter is what stops aspirated fluid reaching the pump on overflow and what prevents contaminated air passing through the exhaust.
- Filters, liners, tubing and suction tips are single-use consumables and are not supplied with this unit.
- Decontaminate the unit and the canisters in line with the receiving organisation's policy before it enters clinical service.
- Check canisters, lids, seals and overflow protection are complete and undamaged before the unit is used on a patient.
Checked before dispatch
- Cleaned and inspected.
- Powered up and function tested, with vacuum generation and the rotary suction control confirmed.
- Canisters, mountings and filter mount checked for cracks and secure fitting.
- Castors, handle, mains lead and plug visually inspected for damage.
These are in-house workshop checks. Damaged or non-working items are not dispatched. This item may require service and calibration. A full engineer service and vacuum performance verification are not included unless this listing states that the unit has been serviced. Planned maintenance and periodic electrical safety testing remain with the operating organisation once the unit is in service.

Specification limited to what is confirmed
Maximum vacuum, dimensions and weight are not stated here, because published figures for the earlier Eschmann VP35 belong to a different generation of unit and should not be applied to the VPX35. If those figures are needed before purchase, ask and the rating plate will be photographed. The current user manual covering the VPX35 and VPX45 is available from Eschmann.
Routine care guidance
| Component | Action | Interval |
|---|---|---|
| Filter | Fit a fresh hydrophobic filter, and change immediately if it becomes wet or soiled | Per local policy |
| Canisters and liners | Empty and dispose of contents per local policy, do not fill beyond the marked level | Between patients |
| Tubing and tips | Fit fresh single-use tubing and suction tips | Every patient |
| Seals and lids | Inspect for splits and distortion, confirm the seal holds vacuum | Weekly |
| Vacuum check | Occlude the patient line and confirm the gauge reaches the expected level | Before each session |
| Housing and trolley | Wipe down per local policy, check castors and handle security | Weekly |
| Mains lead and plug | Inspect for damage and secure stowage | Weekly |
| Service and electrical safety test | Engineer service and vacuum performance check | Per local schedule |
The above is general guidance. The manufacturer instructions for use and the operating organisation's decontamination and maintenance policy take precedence. A unit that will not reach its expected vacuum, or that has drawn fluid past the filter, should be taken out of service until it has been inspected.
