SunTech CT40 Vital Signs Monitor, Pre-Owned, Complete with Accessories, NIBP, SpO2 and Temperature

The SunTech CT40 is a spot-check vital signs device measuring brachial blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation and body temperature in patients from three years of age through to adults. It runs SunTech Advantage oscillometric blood pressure technology, the same measurement platform used in clinical trial and research settings, which is what separates it from a general purpose observations machine. Its distinguishing feature is a modular build: the pulse oximetry and thermometry modules can be added or changed in the field rather than sending the device away. Supplied here with its accessories in a box, ready for clinic, ward and outreach use. No trolley or rollstand is included, so the device sits on a desk, worktop or existing stand.

Checked before dispatch

  • Cleaned and inspected.
  • Powered up and function tested across the fitted parameters.
  • Cuff, hose, sensor and probe leads checked for splits, kinks and secure connection.
  • Mains lead and plug visually inspected for damage.

These are in-house workshop checks. Damaged or non-working items are not dispatched. This item may require service and calibration. A full engineer service and calibration is not included unless this listing states that the unit has been serviced. Verification of measurement accuracy against a calibrated reference, planned maintenance and periodic electrical safety testing remain with the operating organisation once the device is in service.

Clinical use

  • For use by a qualified clinician. The device measures, records and displays. It does not make a diagnosis.
  • Blood pressure accuracy depends on cuff size. A cuff that is too small overestimates and one that is too large underestimates, so the cuff must be matched to the arm rather than to what is already on the machine.
  • Sensors and probes must match the fitted module. Oximetry sensors from a different module family will not read correctly, and contact thermometry must not be used without a fresh probe cover.

Key features

Advantage blood pressure technology, SunTech's clinical grade oscillometric platform, giving the measurement quality expected of a research and trial device rather than a consumer machine.
Modular design allowing the pulse oximetry and thermometry modules to be added or changed on site, so the device can be reconfigured as caseload changes without going back to the manufacturer.
Manual SphygMode for real-time verification of a blood pressure reading without removing the cuff, which settles the question when an automated result looks wrong.
Blood pressure averaging mode, a configurable protocol that takes a series of readings and averages them, the approach recommended for accurate hypertension assessment.
Three parameters in one device, covering non-invasive blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation and body temperature.
Paediatric and adult use from three years of age upward, with separate adult and paediatric pressure ranges.
Built-in Ethernet with optional Wi-Fi, and data transfer under HL7 and IHE protocols into a clinical record system.
Mounting options across desk, wall bracket, rollstand and mobile trolley, all available separately, so the device can be fixed in a clinic room or moved between bays as the service requires.
Compact device at approximately 1.44 kg without battery, so it lifts off the stand for outreach work and home visits.
Simple two-button measurement interface with an LCD display, which keeps training time short across a rotating team.

Module configuration

The CT40 was supplied with a choice of pulse oximetry and thermometry modules, and consumables are specific to the module fitted. Oximetry sensors are not interchangeable between module families, and contact thermometry probes and covers differ from touchless thermometry. Ask before ordering to confirm which modules are fitted to this unit, so that sensors, probes and probe covers can be matched correctly from the outset.

Condition and history. A pre-owned unit from clinical service, cleaned and inspected. Cosmetic marking consistent with previous use should be expected. Ongoing maintenance should follow the operating organisation's medical device management policy and the duties under PUWER 1998. The photographs form part of the description and show the actual condition of the items offered.

Suited to

  • GP surgeries and ward observation rounds
  • Outpatient and triage clinics
  • Mobile health screening units
  • Community and field healthcare teams
  • Occupational health and screening services

Routine care guidance

Component Action Interval
Cuff and hose Inspect for splits, kinks and leaks, wipe down per local policy Between patients
SpO2 sensor Check the emitter and detector windows are clean and the cable is undamaged Between patients
Temperature probe Fit a fresh probe cover for every measurement, inspect the probe tip Every measurement
Device housing Wipe down per local policy, check the display and keypad for damage Weekly
Mains lead and plug Inspect for damage and strain at the entry point Weekly
Cuff sizing stock Confirm the full range of cuff sizes needed for the caseload is available Monthly
Accuracy verification and electrical safety test Engineer check against a calibrated reference Per local schedule

The above is general guidance. The manufacturer instructions for use and the operating organisation's medical device management policy take precedence. Any device giving readings that do not fit the clinical picture should be taken out of service and verified before further use.
